TD is defined as a clinical and biochemical syndrome associated with advancing age and comorbidities

It is characterised by a deficiency in serum androgen levels and relevant signs and symptoms.1

Also known as hypogonadism, TD is the result of disruption at one or more levels of the hypothalamic-pituitary-testicular (HPT) axis which is responsible for the regulation of testosterone production.
